Over at Grandfather Clocks for Home I learned a bit about the history of timekeeping.
They used to use continuous flow stuff like sand (think hourglass) or water to keep time. it wasn't until they started using pendulums that timekeeping became more accurate.
Who would have thought that a interval method like pendulums is more accurate than water flowing? You learn something new every day.
